3 Actions to the kingdom

Will you join us in building an altar of prayer?

Personal Altar of Prayer

An individual altar is an intentional time and place of communication and fellowship with God. This is a time you have assigned, committed, and set aside to meet with God on a 'one-on one' level or basis. It comes with a specific time at which you seek the face of God and build an intimate relationship with God.

General Suggestions:

  1. Choose a specific time and place each day. "In the morning, O Lord, hear my voice. In the morning I lay my needs in front of you, and I wait." Psalm 5:3                                                                                       - Set aside a suggested time of 20 minutes to an hour                                                                                   - Create a time of worship with worship music                                       - Choose a specific location in home this could be a chair, specific room or at a table.
  2. Create a time of worship with worship music. Incorporate praise and worship; have a time of giving thanks and praise to the Lord. " Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim His salvation day after day." 1 Chronicles 16:23
  3. Incorporate reading the Word. "But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night." Psalm 1:2
  4. Incorporate praying the Word. Take a scripture and turn it into prayer. For example, Psalm 23:1 "The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want." An example of turning it into a prayer would be " Lord, you are my shepherd. I trust your leadership and guidance. Give me a heart that follows and does not wander. You have given me all I need. I trust your provision. I thank you for caring for all the details of my life. You are my good shepherd."
  5. Practice "listening prayers" with a Journal. Just be quiet before the Lord and hear what He speaks to your heart and journal it. " My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me." John 10:27

Family altar of prayer

A family altar is established when the people in the home come together to seek and worship God so that He can tangibly affect and change the atmosphere in their home. The family becomes more God-centered, and the presence of God begins to affect relationships and the things they do in the home. It even helps protect the home from attacks from the enemy.

GENERAL SUGGESTIONS:

  1. Designate a specific time and place in the home at least once a week. “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” Deuteronomy 6:4-9

  2. Incorporate worship; have a time of giving thanks and praise to the Lord “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God” Colossians 3:16

  3. Read the Word together “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it” Proverbs 22:6

  4. Pray over specific needs in the family. “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working” James 5:16

  5. Take communion together “And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” Luke 22:19

Corporate Altar of prayer

A corporate altar of prayer is where a body of believers come together to seek, draw, and worship the presence of God so He can tangibly affect and change the atmosphere within the congregation, the community, and the city. It is through corporate altars of prayer that revival and spiritual awakening is birthed, and open heavens (on earth as it is in heaven) begin to take place over the local church, city, and region.

CORPORATE ALTAR OF PRAYER OPPORTUNITIES:

  1. Weekly designated times of prayer in the sanctuary.  Wednesday's from 12 noon - 1 pm.  Sunday mornings from 9:15 - 9:45 am. “Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. 2. Monthly - "The Turning" - Typically on the first Sunday of each month.  Please call the church office to confirm dates.   This corporate prayer time is filled with praise, worship, thanksgiving, prayers of proclamation, declarations, and petitions.   Isaiah 38:2 "Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord."

  3. These corporate prayer times include praise, worship and praying for:                                                                                                                                       a. Revival and spiritual awakening within the congregation, community, and nation.                                                                                               b. Specific needs within the congregation                                                           c. The community and city leaders, such as  the mayor and city council, school board, police department, etc.                                                    d. Often testimonies of God’s faithfulness and  answers to prayer are shared giving us opportunity to celebrate together.  And they have defeated him (satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. Rev. 12:11a
